Directly from your doorstep, you can witness and access the clear fresh waters of the River Nith; abundant with salmon, it’s quite the pastime to watch them leaping from the waters! Yet more views across the river can be witnessed from Sanquhar Golf Club (0.5 miles) which not only draws seasoned golfers due to its nine-hole course, but presents the spectacular scenery of the local area, commanding views across the rolling hills.

Walkers and cyclists can embark on a number of routes and trails directly from the property; Sanquhar sits along the iconic South West Coastal 300 touring route, famed for its magnificent scenery and there are many splendid shorter routes and trails to be enjoyed within striking distance of the holiday cottage, including: Sanquhar to Scaur Water, Polvaird Loch and Euchanhead and Sanquhar Castle. For those in want of comfort breaks, the village itself and those in close proximity, boast welcoming cafes, tearooms and inns, many of which are dog friendly too.

One of the most famous local attractions is the mind-blowing Crawlick Multiverse (1 mile) a former coal mine that was designed by the architect Charles Jencks who transformed it into a land art installation. A 55-acre environmental artwork, there is plenty to be witnessed and enjoyed here by all ages. Further afield, Drumlanrig Castle and Gardens (10.5 miles) offers a more traditional landscape with its vast, mature gardens dating back to the 17th century.

Not the best, dusty, musty and damp smell, decor in need of an uplift as only 1 coat of paint, quite dark in sitting room, no clean washing up sponge, scissors or oven glove. Door locks stiff especially the fire escape we used the french doors as our main exits. Freezer in utility not working. Not a lot to do in the town, wasn't the best base for oRead moreur needs. Heating works well and plenty of space, large bathroom with great shower but mold showing in places. Didn't eat in the hotel. Hide

This is a fantastic cottage, right in the beautiful river Nith. Very clean, perfectly spacious for four and the owners are absolutely lovely. We dined at the adjacent Blackaddie hotel twice and the food was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend.

Very comfortable cottage, the fridge was frozen up when we arrived , so we had to defrost it to put our frozen food items in. The freezer in the utility room was not in use/working? Other than that the cottage was very good, very central to the attraction in the area we wanted to visit. The meals in the hotel are not to be missed, the quality was eRead morexcellent.
