A stunning farmhouse, not to be missed, with plenty of finishing touches to help create a backdrop for a memorable stay. With three bedrooms, sleeping up to eight people, plus two dogs allowed, it’s a good option if you are looking for a property big enough to house a large group. Thanks to being close to the Glenshee hills, not only does the house and garden have spectacular views, but skiing is also possible in the winter.

While the property has every mod con you should ever need, its interiors retain a traditional feel thanks to painted wood panelling, flagstone-style floors and tartan soft furnishings throughout. Outside, the enclosed garden is an extension of the relaxing interior with a hot tub perfectly placed to maximise those Glenshee views.

When you enter this character property, you go straight into a porch area which is a great spot to hang up coats, kick off boots and clean off any muddy paws. From there you can head into the open-plan lounge and formal dining area. The room features an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner in addition to a piano for those that are musically minded. To truly relax, you could light up the wood burner and cosy up on the comfortable sofas and armchairs to watch a movie on the Smart TV. The property’s kitchen has everything you need to cook while on your self-catering holiday, but it’s also a sociable space so everyone can feel involved. There’s a utility area just off the kitchen and another additional dining area.

Upstairs, you’ll find the property’s three bedrooms. All are uniquely and tastefully decorated and have use of two bathrooms. There’s a king-size room and a twin, but the property also has a family bedroom which has a king-size bed and two single beds for groups happy to share. The upstairs area also has a large bookcase – home to many books for you to read during your stay.

The garden is as much a selling point as the interior. It’s fully enclosed with seating on the patio next to the hot tub. It is also home to a wood-fired pizza oven and a BBQ, so it’s great for lunches or a relaxed dinner. It also has a summerhouse in addition to a smaller enclosed garden to the front of the property. For parking, there’s space for four cars.

Stride straight out to find a myriad of footpaths and other walking routes. Lace up your boots and climb one of the many corbetts and Munros in the area and see the ruins of Whitefield Castle, 5 miles away. Venture 7 miles and into the Cairngorms National Park to see the spectacular Spittal of Glenshee, where small streams join to flow out of the Grampians to form Shee Water. Keen skiers will enjoy spending time at the Glenshee Ski Centre, with its 25 miles of pistes, 12 miles away, during the winter. Have a day trip to Braemar, 20 miles away, to potter in its shops, dine out in pubs serving delicious, home-cooked dishes and see the ruins of Kindrochit Castle, which dates back to the 14th century. Pitlochry, with its interesting outlets, eateries and distilleries to tour, is also a great place to take your party for the day. While you are here, spend time at Blair Castle and Gardens, 25 miles from your base, and the lush Tay Forest Park, 28 miles away.

Fantastic holiday with family, plenty to explore, lots of great eating places and towns with independent shops. If you travel up to Balmoral, the bakery next to the primary school does an exceptional hot chocolate (according to grandkids even better than the gift shop just North of the cottage, which had earned a ten out of ten). Slightly further NRead moreorth look out for the Linn of the Dee - wonderful views. Cottage was warm and spacious - fantastic Aga for cooking and plenty of space for eating! Hide
