Discover the wild countryside of the county Angus, which is filled with quaint towns, historic castles and plenty of outdoor activities to try. The 500 to 800 AD Aberlemno Pictish Stones are just 1 mile away and boast fascinating carvings of symbols. Also within easy reach is the charming Murton Farm, Tearoom and Nature Reserve (7.5 miles), which makes for a fun day out where you can see farm animals, stop for some lunch and stroll around the lochs.

During your stay, you’ll be between two quaint towns. Brechin (6.5 miles) is a former Royal burgh with a cathedral and the Caledonian Railway heritage preservation. In the opposite direction is the mysterious town of Forfar (6.5 miles) which is said to have been home to a coven of witches, which you can learn about in the Forfar Meffan Museum.

Like most places in Scotland, there are a number of impressive castles nearby – the closest is Melgund Castle (3 miles), built in the 16th century. Further afield are Guthrie Castle (7 miles) or the 14th century Glamis Castle (12 miles), which was the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth.

The coast is 15 miles away, where you can find plenty of clifftop walking paths, sandy beaches and traditional seaside towns. The expansive and pristine golden shores of Montrose Beach are 15 miles away. Just south of here is Lunan Bay Beach (17 miles).

The property, and its surroundings were beautiful and so well kept, you can tell the whole estate is well looked after. We had the best week and will go back in a heart beat, the pool was amazing and the fact you book a private slot makes you feel like it's all yours! Can't fault this place 1 bit, thank you for an amazing stay.
