Set into the hillside and surrounded by the dramatic landscape of Beinn Mhor, South Uist, which looms overhead and with views across to the serene waters of Loch Eck, this is the ideal retreat for those wishing to reconnect with the great outdoors for an ‘unplugged’ break. This bonnie wood cabin sleeps up to four guests and so is perfectly suited to couples travelling together or a small family, perhaps looking to get away from the hubbub of day-to-day life.

Step across the deck, through patio doors and into the open-plan living space, which is cosy and inviting, housing a large sofa centred around the TV, and a well-equipped kitchen and dining space. Invite the outdoors in by throwing open the patio doors so you can make the most of the spectacular views. From here, you’ll find two bedrooms; a spacious double room with an infrared sauna space attached, and an attractive twin room. There is also a spacious bathroom with a spa-style bath; it offers the perfect space to relax and soak aching muscles after a day spent bagging Munros.

Outside, the enclosed deck area provides plenty of seating, so you can sit back and breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the incredible views. There is also a sunken hot tub, which can be enjoyed at an additional cost.

Nature lovers, thrill-seekers, and those in search of a more sedate pace are sure to find this breathtaking location the ideal place for an authentic Scottish break. Embark on adrenalin-fuelled feats, sit back and take in awesome scenery or simply step out and explore the ancient woodland directly from your doorstep; this detached log cabin offers the opportunity to enjoy it all.

Overlooking Loch Eck, the area is a haven for wildlife; wild swimmers can also make the most of the loch’s fresh water and easy access, as you’ll find very few boats on the move on this serene body of water. Beinn Mhor, which can be seen from the property, is the highest mountain on South Uist, making it a spectacular viewpoint across the highlands and Loch Eck. The rough terrain makes it a tough walk to the summit, but it is worth all the effort for the incredible views.

Situated just 11 miles away, take a trip to Dunoon on the Cowal Peninsula for shops, cafes and galleries and enjoy the town’s pretty attractions such as its famous Victorian Pier. From here, you can also enjoy ferry trips to Gourock and links to Glasgow for day trips. Inveraray, another beautiful historic town with loch-side scenery, sits just 28 miles from the property; rich in history, featuring plenty of Scottish Georgian architecture, its castle and the famous Inveraray Jail are also well worth a visit.

Good base for exploring the area, cottage is a bit tired, could use a spruce up, especially outside area.
