This fabulous detached, spacious lodge is the perfect place for a romantic retreat. Relax in the private hot tub and enjoy the wonderful coastal views or take a stroll on the private rocky beach.

An ideal destination for a romantic break, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this beautiful lodge would suit a couple wanting to relax amidst the peace and beauty of south west Scotland. After a day exploring the local area, and a stop-off for essentials at Auchencairn village shop (2.5 miles), unwind with a dip in the private hot tub.

This lovely lodge is filled with luxurious details, such as mood lighting, a free-standing bath, and a dressing room off the bedroom. The décor is stylish and there are colourful details throughout. Vaulted ceilings increase the brightness in the rooms, and the large windows make the most of the panoramic sea views.

From the few steps at the door, enter the hallway and remove your outdoor layers. A handy utility room is great for rainy days when you’ve been out and about, so put anything needing a clean in there. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is a wonderful space for you to spend cosy evenings together, cooking a romantic meal in the well-equipped kitchen, eating and talking at the table, and finally moving to a soft seat with a dram or hot drink. Choose a film to watch on the TV/DVD, and then retire to the king-size bed for a good night’s sleep. In the morning, admire the sea view from your duvet and flick through the channels on the bedroom’s TV. Soak in the bath or feel revitalised under the double-headed rain shower before brunch at the kitchen island.

The lodge has a patio area accessed via French doors in the living area. If the weather is warm, dine alfresco, or take a seat in the covered decked area, where the mood lighting in the ceiling will make sure you have a starry night even if the sky is overcast. The hot tub is also on the patio, at the side of the property.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The surrounding area is filled with sheltered bays and secluded sandy beaches, castle ruins, and vibrant small towns and villages. Drive to Castle Douglas (11 miles), known as the 'Food Town' for its many local businesses selling fresh and quality produce. Browse the shop windows on its main street, stop in for an ice cream, and then head over to National Trust for Scotland's Threave Garden, and Threave Castle, both on the outskirts of the town.

Also, well worth a visit is harbour town Kirkcudbright (12 miles), otherwise known as the 'Artists' Town' for its connections to renowned creative individuals. There you'll find National Trust for Scotland's Broughton House and Garden, home of Glasgow Boy E.A. Hornel, the Kirkcudbright Galleries, and a handful of smaller art galleries scattered around the town. There is also a number of friendly cafes and independent shops.

Local beauty spots for a pleasant stroll include Bainloch Deer Park (16.5 miles) and Brighouse Bay (18 miles), where you can feel the sand between your toes and enjoy the Scottish sunshine. For a romantic picnic, venture to one of the pretty ruins, such as Dundrennan Abbey (6 miles), Cardoness Castle (20 miles), or Sweetheart Abbey (22 miles).

amazing lodge in an awe-inspiring location, the lodge was immaculate and the welcome pack and fresh flowers were lovely. We have been to the lodge twice this year, and we will be back next year. The Galloway forest is stunning and the forest drives and roads are so quiet. Haste'ye'back.....

The lodge was extremely clean and very well equipt and the location was fabulous. The only thing was that the pillows were a bit flat for us, but maybe not for everyone and maybe some bath sheets would be great. A telescope would be fantastic for looking a the amazing stars.

Superb property, beautifully presented and very well equipped. Very spacious internally, with comfortable sofas in lounge area, excellent kitchen/dining area, bathroom with large shower cubicle and separate bath and bedroom, c/w adjoining dressing room. Just wow! From the location, the lodge, the welcome, the cleanliness, the hot tub - everything was perfect. Very dog friendly, very quiet location but enough in the area to explore too - if you can bear to leave the lodge. Tesco deliver shopping in this area and Id recommend getting bottled drinking water.
