If you’re seeking a pet-friendly holiday in Bonnie Scotland, stay at this gorgeous wooden cabin where you’ll have alpacas, sheep, goats and seven dogs as your neighbours. It’s located on a working farm and surrounded by fields and a lake, with plenty of natural beauty spots to explore in the nearby area. With one king-size bed, this sweet home is fantastic for a peaceful getaway as a solo traveller or couple, with up to four canine chums also welcome to join you.

Cosy, homely and quirky, this stylish dwelling is constructed solely of wooden panels for an alpine-inspired atmosphere. The inside has a minimalistic style with a playful animal theme that references the farmyard setting. Created with your four-legged pals in mind, the property features padded, anti-skid floors so your dogs feel happy and comfortable during their stay.

Everything is on the one floor in this welcoming holiday home, which offers open-plan living which is perfectly suited to a romantic break. The fully-equipped kitchen, although dinky, is ideal for prepping delicious meals, to be savoured at the dining table. When your legs are tired from hours of walking, you’ll love sinking into the sofa for a couple of hours of easy entertainment on the Smart TV. At one end of the room, there’s a cosy king-size bed where you can retire for the night. The wet room features a roomy shower for freshening up each morning.

Outside, you'll find a secure area laid with artificial turf and furnished with seating, in addition to a private hot tub that offers panoramic views of the open fields and forests. Your cabin is one of six situated on the farm, all encircled by a generous expanse of grassland with vistas of an open, unfenced pond that you are free to enjoy. An indoor BBQ hut is available for rent directly from the owners.

Whether you fancy long walks or gentle strolls, challenging cycle rides or peaceful drives through the countryside, you’ll find so much to do nearby.

You may fancy a pub lunch in the historic market town of Biggar (5.5 miles), which offers amenities like shops and restaurants. There’s also a local museum where you can learn more about life in Upper Clydesdale from prehistoric times onwards.

If you fancy a gentle hike, head up to the summit at Tinto Hill (8 miles) and soak up the 360-degree views over the Clyde Valley at the top. The 4-mile route is easy to follow, and the round trip should take about three hours.

There are plenty of appealing natural sites nearby, such as Lanark Loch (10 miles) and the delightful Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve (11 miles). Both these locations are on the Clyde Valley Tourist Route, which is worth checking out for ideas when you’re deciding what to do.

Chatelherault Country Park (20 miles), another location on the route, is the site of an 18th-century hunting lodge and hundreds of acres of woodland you can explore. It’s home to majestic 600-year-old oaks and a fantastic 24m gorge with Duke’s Bridge crossing over it.

We had a lovely long weekend The Sheeps Pen. Owners were very welcoming and informative and gave us lots of pointers for the surrounding area. Cabin was clean with lots of little personal touches that made us feel really at home. It was warm inside and our dogs loved lounging around and relaxing while we took a dip in the wonderful hot tub. I honesRead moretly can say it was such a relaxing get away and so worth the five hour journey to get there. We really hope to come back soon! Hide

We really enjoyed our stay, we didnt go sightseeing as we had planned to just stay & relax there which we done, it was so peaceful. The hot tub was an added bonus, the dogs loved to run around the enclosed garden area. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. We loved the hobbit style of the lodge cabin. We will definitely be back.

Really lovely wee cottage. Everything in a high condition and extremely cosy. Unfortunately the weather didn't allow for full use of the hot tub as it was too stormy outside but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would come back again.

We had the best stay at Bowmuir farm , a lovely quiet place away from it all with everything catered for in the cabin and lovely surroundings for walking our dog- just bliss , well definitely be back. Hosts were so lovely and welcoming and the cabins were just a delight and so cosy , great when it was chilly outside.

We had the most relaxing stay at Bowmuir Farm holidays. Its so quiet and peaceful. The sheep house is lovely, we especially enjoyed the view from our hot tub when the sun set. Our Dog and little boy loved the garden to run about in and we loved how it was all fenced off and the gate was dog and baby proof :-) We enjoyed our morning walks through SaRead moremmys woods and visiting the alpacas at the end of the drive too! Everything has been thought of and the cabins have been done up so lovely! Hide
