Description

Elderslie House is an exceptionally beautiful house with lawns running down to the shoreline and the most spectacular views across Findhorn Bay. Findhorn and its bay is part of the most picturesque coastline of the Moray Firth with timeless scenery, sandy beaches and bobbing boats, and quaint little streets add to the peace and quiet this area offers. The lovely gardens are lawn and landscaped with an open pit fire to enjoy the evenings outdoors.

Come indoors and you will enjoy this tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable home. The lounge with its subtle lighting has soft comfortable settees to ‘snuggle on’ while warming your toes by the gas stove. Have a seat in the sun room with views of Findhorn Bay, enjoy a game of billiards and while awaiting your turn, you can put another log on the wood burning stove in the ‘snug’ or sit and enjoy your favourite TV programme.

The wonderful new kitchen is well equipped and spacious with the wine cooler/warmer cabinet (an added bonus) and a dining room with picture window; all these create the perfect setting to enjoy dinner and discuss the day's events. To make the day complete, retire to the most comfortable and generous bedrooms.

What a location! From the conservatory, you could just sit all day and watch the wildlife in total privacy and warmth! Huge kitchen and dining room - caters for multitudes - straight onto private beach. Dogs loved it, pensioners loved it, kids would love it - I’m sure everyone visiting will have the same feeling. Kitchen lighting was a bit too dim and that was the only negative comment. Would definitely revisit again for a family get together (which is what we did) plus plenty of quiet spaces to hide when the family rows commence (Not that we had any). Sunsets in Findhorn are legendary - there is no better place to watch them!
    Mr Lambert - September 2018
This is the second time we have booked this cottage, it is nestled in a stunning location on Findhorn bay. There is plenty of space indoors and out to accommodate our family get together, the kitchen, dining room and sitting room are ideal for entertaining. The kitchen is adequately stocked with all basic cooking utensils and 2 fridges are a bonus when catering for so many.
    Mrs Szabo - August 2018
Wonderful house with the most amazing outlook onto the bay from every window - and perfect for watching the osprey!! Really well equipped and comfortable house. Boys loved the pool table. We hope to go back - again.
    Mrs Duggan - August 2018
After much searching, Elderslie House was chosen as a suitable destination for a family holiday to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday and we could not have asked for a better place. The setting is stunning and as we were incredibly lucky with the weather, we were able to make the most of the garden furniture to enjoy the peace and quiet and amazing scenery. Sitting outside in the early morning with a cup of tea and in the evening with a glass of wine, listening to the birds along the shore to a backdrop of beautiful sunrises and sunsets, will remain as a magical memory. We had a wonderful meal at The Kimberley Inn where the staff were very accommodating for our requirements and the cakes in the village bakery and cafe were very special indeed! To balance all the eating and drinking, there are some great walks from the doorstep, cycling along clearly marked cycle routes and plenty of activities in the local area. All in all, a fantastic place for a memorable family holiday.
    Mrs Cormack - July 2018
Fantastic place for a family holiday, plenty of room. Everything catered for made it very stress free.
    Mr Mccallum - June 2018
The location of Elderslie House is perfect - tucked away in a secluded spot but right next to the beach. Overall, the house is very well equipped and the recent upgrades to the kitchen and master bathroom are good. But there were several broken utensils in the kitchen, no bottle opener, the wine fridge wasn’t working and some of the kitchen lights had blown. There was no store of dry wood for the fire, only damp wood from outside. And the downstairs shower room obviously has a damp problem, as it smelled really strongly. (This was in contrast to the other Cottages & Castles properties we have stayed in.). The house is within easy reach of the Kimberley Inn, Logie Steading and Forres, where there is a good supermarket and local facilities.
    Mrs Brookes - November 2017
Elderslie House was the perfect venue for a family get together. The house is very comfortable and has all the facilities necessary to make the stay very enjoyable. The location was perfect with wonderful views of Findhorn Bay. The house is within walking distance of the village and it's amenities including 2 pubs and a supermarket. There are plenty of local attractions for days out. We had a great time and would like to go back sometime.
    Mrs Halliwell - August 2017
Great house brilliant location for walking to the beach with the kids and also kids enjoyed catching crabs at the harbour. Good pubs at the harbour. Supermarket 5 mins in the car. Every one enjoyed the house. The new French doors and large decking area was a great bonus as is the fire pit the enclosed back garden. This was our second year at Elderslie House and would recommend it.
    Mrs Bannister - July 2017
We were a group of 10 golfers coming to the Highlands to play several courses during the week. Elderslie House was perfect, being close to lot of beautiful golfs. The house itself was ideal : one bedroom per people, a big and very well equiped kitchen, a dining room with a big table for 15 people at least, a room we dedicated for whisky tasting in the evening, an other one dedicated to WIFI, and what about the big / new wood terrace in front of the water, perfect for breakfast and to admire sunsets and water-tide movements. All in the house was very clean and well organized. In addition the site is very calm, with a lot of place outside for cars. If you want you can find some photos of the house (and the golfs) here : http://rodadur.free.fr/ToPhos/index.php?/category/212
    Mr Durand - May 2017
Elderslie House is in a wonderful setting with the most amazing views across Findhorn Bay. The house is large and very comfortable with great amenities and perfect for large groups. Findhorn village is a short stroll away with beautiful beaches. Great local eateries - Highly recommend the Kimberley Inn in the village - very welcoming, dog friendly, great food and lovely views from the outside seating area. The Mosset Tavern in nearby Forres also has great food and friendly and efficient service and a huge Whiskey list. Plenty to do in the area - if you want to be active there are walks along the beaches and dunes in Findhorn and forest walks at Culbin or Roseisle. Places to visit - local Distilleries, the lovely Baxters factory shops, Brodie castle and shops or a boat trip on loch ness. The Landmark centre in Carrbridge is a great day out for the children. Or if you want to relax there is no better place than at Elderslie House - sitting in the sunroom or on the outdoor decking with the amazing views and peace and quiet. We had a fabulous holiday and would definitely re-book at Elderslie House.
    Mrs Forshaw - April 2017
We have been on holiday every year for 10 years with the whole family (17 of us), and this the was one of the best for location and space. Well appointed with everything you might need, loads of cooking space and lovely big family kitchen next to a great dining room. Sometimes we have problems with not enough big pots etc, not here! Bedrooms all good, and one spectacular with a view over the bay which was breath taking. Also plenty of hiding places for our annual hide and seek with the grandchildren. Easter egg hunt also great for having outside on the grass. Loads to do in the area and I would recommend the Findhorn Foundation as a fascinating and interesting place to see. We all loved it and week flew in. We have never revisited a property but this one is special. Bonfires on the beach, great walks and mucking about in the water. Perfect. And for us, pet friendly was also important.
    Mrs Russell - April 2017
Our group comprising 14 adults (Aged from 40's to mid 70's) together with 4 grandchildren (Aged from 8 to 11) all had a most enjoyable and comfortable weekend at Elderslie House with the accommodation fully meeting our requirements and expectations although the weather over the 4 days could only be described as 'mixed'. However, our main reason for reserving the property was for celebrating my wife's 70th birthday with family attending from as far afield as Switzerland. The main rooms - dining room, kitchen facilities and 2 lounges - were ideal for her birthday party and large enough to accommodate a further 15 friends who attended her main event on the Sunday afternoon. The children enjoyed the ample sized rooms occupied by them and the play facilities outside. The men also were able to relax in style with the Pool table being an added bonus to their visit. I also would mention the ample parking available for both our vehicles and those of our Sunday visitors. I certainly would recommend this property for family gatherings, etc and would certainly consider re-booking Elderslie again in the future.
    Mr Hyde - February 2017
This is a beautiful house in a fantastic location, which is a firm favourite with all the family. A week is never long enough! The house, which is spacious, is very comfortable and well equipped and sits near the shore at Findhorn. The views from nearly every window are spectacular and the recent addition of French windows in the dining room are a real asset.
    Mrs Grant - February 2017
Lovely setting Excellent house Fantastic time ❤️
    Mrs Rough - November 2016
The house is located right on the beach front and offers great views and access to the village. Its child and pet friendly, has great outdoor space with a firepit and a gas BBQ and the bedrooms and bathrooms are modern and very comfortable. We rented it in April then again in August so it cant be all that bad, but found the damp peeling wallpaper still there and some of the windows in poor condition on the front ground floor. On the whole however we have very much enjoyed our trips to Elderslie House and everything else about the house is very good....shame it is slightly let down by just a few minor aesthetics!
    Mr Bell - August 2016
Family holiday ranging from age 2 to age 60. The Location was really good away from every one but really near to all amenities. Every one loved the fact that the kids could play on the pebble beach outside the house and also a short walk away they were at the harbour trying out some crab fishing. (we returned them all to the water). Coming out the drive to the house, crossing the road and going straight ahead took you to the beach which was always empty. The kids loved playing there and walking around to the left up the beach and to the harbour from that direction. They saw a pod of dolphins one afternoon whilst doing this. The food in the local Crown Inn was good. We also went into the Moray Leisure centre where we went ice skating then into the fun swimming session as they were both in the same venue. We also experienced the local A&E services at Dr Gray's Hospital following one of the kid breaking their arm whilst skating and they received excellent service from them as well. The nearby Loft activities provided great fun for the kids as they went lazer tagging, water walking and also made some pottery models. The fire pit was great fun and also sitting in the sun porch watching the ospreys an other wild life kept us occupied. These 2 areas are a bit tired looking and would benefit from tidying up which would make the house a 5.
    Mrs Bannister - July 2016
We gathered at Elderslie House to celebrate a 60th birthday and it was an ideal spot for our group with ages ranging from over 70 to a baby. There was space for everyone and the grounds leading onto the bay were just ideal. The wee ones enjoyed donning wellies and exploring the shoreline as well as playing on the swings. All ages enjoyed outdoor games and activities as well as the campfire area. We ate out at the Crown and Anchor and the Kimberley; both meals were excellent. The rest of the time we catered for ourselves savouring our time together round the large dining table or eating outdoors. A few small things that are needed are listed below: The kitchen lacks; oven gloves, large serving dishes and spoons, scales which work, mixing bowls, small jugs for cream and bowls for cereal would be better than soup plates. Not all the bedrooms and bathrooms have mirrors and some hooks on the back of doors would be helpful. None of these detracted from our enjoyment of the house and we would certainly recommend this property to friends and family.
    Mrs Bain - May 2016
Elderslie is the perfect setting for a large family get together - plenty of room to spread out thus catering for all ages - there were seventeen of us aged 9 to 80! The kitchen is exceptional and the beds and quality of linen and beds excellent. The outside play area and the open fire with all round seating outside is a great addition for evening singsongs and toasting marshmallows etc. This is our third stay in Elderslie and we all love it. I would give this holiday home 5 stars but I am assured by the owner that plans are afoot to replace one or two of the large windows that have "blown" - then Elderslie will be perfect!!! Highly recommended.
    Mrs Evans - April 2016
The house was cosy ,welcoming and clean. It didnt feel like there was 14 people in the house as it was so spacious. The kitchen was very well equipped as we cooked every night for 14. Would definitely recommend this house for a family get together.
    Mrs Stewart - February 2016
Location, Location! Just amazing. Relaxed within about 5 mins of being here so is the calm of the sea and forest views. The house is just perfect for gatherings, it's furniture is lived in so you don't feel on tender hooks that a younger one will ruin anything! The kitchen has all amenities and dinning room is just fabulous. We found the beds and linen very comfortable. Couple of grumbles- If house is full one toilet downstairs isn't enough. Large windows in dinning room ruined views with smear from condensation. Sun room floor was lifting. Future note to house owners - we really didn't use wing kitchen other than for laundry, would be easy to pop second toilet here???? Thanks for a wonderful week, we would love to return.
    Mr Carr - July 2015
Plenty of room for our large party. Beautiful well equipped house. A perfect Weekend away.
    Mrs Martin - March 2015
This is the 3rd time I have stayed at Elderslie House and hope that it's not the last. The house is great for a large group of folk to relax and enjoy the surroundings, indoors and out. The views are stunning and the changing light makes it great location to paint or take photographs. The village has 2 great pubs and a fantastic beach that can be enjoyed in all seasons. Sitting in the dining room enjoy a meal that has been prepared in the well equipped kitchen ends the day perfectly. I have recommend Elderslie House to family and friends
    Mrs Donaldson - November 2014
Attending family wedding locally, excellent stay no faults highly recommended
    Mrs Grant - July 2014
Lovely spacious well equipped house in fantastic spot right on the shore. It suited our group of three families with teenage children extremely well with plenty of space for everyone and enough living space to find solitude if you wanted to! Lovely big dining room for mealtimes too, and house right beside the beach for dog walking- and no livestock nearby. Bedrooms very comfortable and plenty of bathrooms. Kitchen great to work in and relax. Caretaker was helpful and friendly. Altogether a great holiday house which I would highly recommend.
    Dr Stickle - April 2014
Elderslie House was a great find, perfect for a break with family & friends. The location, setting, space, facilities and comfort, allied with a fine spell of September weather, was all we could have wanted. All who came were unanimous with their praise and would return. One or two matters which could do with attention are: (1) the upstairs shower tray drains need clearing - all trays filled up! (2) the bedroom to the right of the entrance hall needs a mirror + at least some coat hooks (3) a small jug or two would be useful for tea in the conservatory (4) more freezer capacity would be useful - we had an outside caterer on two days but would normally bring frozen pre-prepared meals. Externally, the 'pong' from the drains occasionally made sitting outside less than pleasant. Notwithstanding these minor matters, EH is highly recommended. The Ospreys fishing close-by were a much acclaimed bonus!
    Mr Bain - September 2013
Perfect holiday for a family celebration. We had two birthdays to celebrate. A 60th and a 30th. Our party ranged from 18months to 60yrs of age and it suited all our needs. The 18month old stood at the edge of the water throwing pebbles and the older males were able to walk to the pub along the beach. What could be more perfect! The large dining room lent itself to large evening meals and every night felt like a party. Only one thought is that the single room by the kitchen in the annexe would really benefit from a loo somewhere nearer than trailling through to the big house. Apart from that we couldn't fault it. Even the weather was brilliant.
    Mrs Barber - August 2013
Generally excellent facilities & location superb Only a few little points which we noted, none of then spoilt our enjoyment 1. Tumble dryer not working properly 2. Curtains very thin in single bedroom which made sleeping difficult for the chap concerned, also bed board broken. He ended up sleeping on the mattress in the corridor! 3. Shortage of big pans when cooking for 17! few extra would be great 4. Possibly more hygienic to have underslips on pillows? 5. Patio chairs are in need of some TLC As I said only minor points. We loved the place & have booked it for the first week in August 2015.
    Mrs Browne - July 2013
Excellent house for a relaxed holiday. Suited all members of the family from 9 to72 and the dogs especially loved it! The house definitely has a lived in feel which adds to the charm and also makes you feel very much at home. Kitchen is terrific and is definitely the 'hub', loved the fire pit and the well kept front garden area leading to the bay. Only minor niggle was the tumble dryer which did not work, however the weather was glorious so not exactly a drama!
    Mr Hunter - July 2013
The location of Elderslie House is perfect as it is right on the shore and within walking distance of shops, pubs and a great beach. We could- and did.... launch our boats from our own shore at high tide, cycle to Forres or along coast to Burghead (one of our party cycled to and fro Inverness station); walk / cycle with a three year old on a bike and a baby in a buggy into Findhorn or around the Community; swim and kayak on Findhorn beach; play croquet and ball games on the lawn; celebrate a 60th birthday with a BBQ round the fire pit; walk out to the bar at 10pm to see the seals and the sunset; eat "take away" fish and chips from the Kimberley Inn. Further afield we enjoyed Cawdor Castle and Logie, with the walk to Randolph's Leap, Hopeman beach for rockpools and dolphin-spotting at Burghead. One of our party cycled to swim at Kinloss and at Forres. Internally the house is ideal for 4 generations with plenty of different "break out" areas. Beds were great tho duvets too hot for summer months. Suggested improvements - hooks on backs of bedroom and bathroom doors, more wastepaper bins, mirrors for all bedrooms, bedroom chairs. The big toaster was broken and should be replaced. The "sharp" knives were blunt - very! It would have been very helpful to have a plan of the house layout available online as we wanted to know location of bedrooms etc in advance and that would have made it much easier to plan. But these are minor quibbles, this was a wonderful holiday house and we would go back like a shot!
    Mrs Rose - July 2012
The house was superb - very big and had all that we expected. However it was in need of renovation and was quite run down - it was also not particularly clean when we moved in to it. However we enjoyed the holiday.
Owners Response: "The conservatory is being replaced this September."
    Mrs Husband - August 2011
We used the house for a gathering of close family and friends to celebrate our wedding. Our guests came from Moray, Aberdeenshire, the Isle of Bute, Cumbria, Northumberland, Ireland, London - they were all impressed. The location of the house gave us breathtaking views, and privacy to feel we were in our own special place. The house was spacious, decorated to a high standard and equipped with everything we needed. Plus - the weather was fantastic. Sunshine every day - (swimming in front of the house at the end of April!!!! in Scotland!!!!) The sunsets were a gift. We walked, we talked, we paddled, we sunbathed, we sang, we just generally relaxed in this peaceful and scenic place, where an osprey came to feed in the bay several times a day. We were previleged to enjoy this for the few days we were there. Thank you.
    Mr Robertson - April 2011
We gathered "the clan" here for a family vacation. Myself, husband, our children and their spouses from the US and my in laws and sister-in -law from the UK. We had a great time! I particularly liked that the house was somewhat handicapped accessible with two first floor bedrooms and bathroom, which perfectly met the needs of the grandparents. The kitchen and dining room are awesome! We also used the maids kitchen to cook foods that some of our family members are unable to eat because of food allergies. Rooms are well equipped and clean.Views are great. Price is comparable to the quality that receive!
